1 ounce American Eagle silver coin | 2023 The United States Mint has minted the “American Eagle” silver coin since 1986.
The obverse of the US investment coin has shown a new design since 2021: an eagle in flight that appears to be about to land. The feathers are detailed and lifelike, his gaze is directed downwards, typical of birds of prey. He carries a large oak branch in his claws. The inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” begins at the bottom left and ends directly above the eagle. Below the branch are the weight of “1OZ.” and the material “FINE” as well as the lettering “E PLURIBUS UNUM” can be seen. Placed directly below the branch is the denomination of 1 dollar. From 1986 to 2021, the coin featured a heraldic eagle with a shield, olive branch and arrows.
The reverse contains a modernized depiction of Adolph Weinman’s “Walking Liberty.” This design was originally used on the Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. For the 35th anniversary of the “American Eagle Coin Program”, the design was renewed in 2021. Thanks to advances in embossing technology, the updated design now shows finer details that were not previously possible. “Lady Liberty” is draped in a pleated robe, carries a flag around her shoulders and holds a bouquet of laurel and oak branches. The rising sun in the background symbolizes the beginning of the day. The words “LIBERTY” can be seen next to her, while “IN GOD WE TRUST” is written behind her. Under her feet is the 2023 edition.
