Obverse: Features the coat of arms of Barbados along with the face value and fineness. The gold coat of arms features two Pride of Barbados flowers (the national flower) and the spectacled fig tree (Ficus citrifolia). On either side of the coat of arms are the supporters: on the right side, a dolphin, symbolizing the fishing industry, and on the left side, a pelican, after Pelican Island, a small rock that was later incorporated into the deep-water port. Above the coat of arms is a helmet with a cape. On a wreath, a Bajan hand holds two crossed pieces of sugar cane, symbolizing the sugar industry. The crest bears the motto “Pride and Industry.”

Reverse: Features an image of an octopus, its tentacles partially encircling the edge of the design. Surrounding the octopus are plant images. The name of the coin, the fineness and the date of issue are also depicted on the reverse.
